Source: What is India: Annual Report on Indian Epigraphy (1945-1952)Bailhoṅgal is an archaeologically important site situated in Sampgaon-taluk (Belgaum district, Bombay), known for inscriptions regarding the ancient history of India. For example, at Bailhoṅgal there is a damaged stone lying in the Mamalatdar’s office which records a grant of land to god Mācheśvara by Mahāsāmanta Gaṇḍamarasa. Other gifts to the same deity are also mentioned. It is dated Śaka 992 (1070 A. D., Dec. 24).
