百紫千紅 [bǎi zǐ qiān hóng] [bai zi qian hong]—
Describes a scene where a multitude of flowers (群花 [qun hua]) are in full bloom (盛開 [sheng kai]), colorful (多彩 [duo cai]) and splendid (絢爛 [xuan lan]). From Wāng Zhuó's (汪晫 [wang zhuo]) Ci poem (詞 [ci]) "Jiāngchéngzǐ. Kěshì Dōngfēng" (〈江城子 [jiang cheng zi].可是東風 [ke shi dong feng]〉) of the Song Dynasty (宋 [song]): "Hundreds of purples and thousands of reds, spring's opulence, not a trace resembles its fragrance." Also written as "wàn zǐ qiān hóng" (萬紫千紅 [wan zi qian hong]).
