柏木油 [bǎi mù yóu] [bai mu you]—
A volatile oil (揮發油 [hui fa you]) obtained by steam distillation (水蒸氣蒸餾 [shui zheng qi zheng liu]) from the roots (根 [gen]) or branches/trunks (枝幹 [zhi gan]) of cedarwood (柏木 [bai mu]) or juniper (圓柏 [yuan bai]). Its main components (主要成分 [zhu yao cheng fen]) are cedrol (柏木醇 [bai mu chun]) (also known as 柏木腦 [bai mu nao]) and cedarwood essential oil (柏木精油 [bai mu jing you]), and it is widely used (廣泛用為 [guang fan yong wei]) as a fragrance (香料 [xiang liao]) and essence (香精 [xiang jing]).
