Source: archive.org: Shiva Purana - English TranslationBahumitra (बहुमित्र) refers to “(having) many friends”, according to the Śivapurāṇa 2.3.17 (“The dialogue between Indra and Kāmadeva”).—Accordingly, as Indra said to Kāma: “O Kāma [i.e., Makaradhvaja] you are blessed indeed, since you are in readiness to carry out the affair I have on hand. You have begun well. Listen to what is relevant to the context. I shall tell you everything. My job is equally your job and not otherwise. I have many friends [i.e., bahumitra—mitrāṇi mama saṃtyeva bahūni] and great friends at that. But, O Kāma, I have no other friend on a par with you anywhere. [...]”.
