Natyashastra (theatrics and dramaturgy)
Source: Wisdom Library: Nāṭya-śāstraĀyuktikā (आयुक्तिका, “female overseers”) refers to one of the classes of “women” (strī) who have dealings with the king, according to the Nāṭyaśāstra chapter 34. Accordingly, “women who are in charge of stores, weapons, and fruits, roots and grains, who examine the food cooked for the king, and are in charge of (lit. thinkers of) scents, ornaments and garlands and clothes he is to use, and who are employed for various other purposes, are called Āyuktīkās (female overseer)”.
Natyashastra (नाट्यशास्त्र, nāṭyaśāstra) refers to both the ancient Indian tradition (shastra) of performing arts, (natya—theatrics, drama, dance, music), as well as the name of a Sanskrit work dealing with these subjects. It also teaches the rules for composing Dramatic plays (nataka), construction and performance of Theater, and Poetic works (kavya).
