Ayānaya (अयानय).—[ayaśca anayaśca tayoḥ samāhāraḥ] Good or bad luck.

-yaḥ A particular position of the pieces on a chess-board. A place on a chess-board, which the pieces of the opponents cannot occupy. (ānīyante śārā asmin ityānayaḥ; ayena dakṣiṇāvartena apasavyagamanena ānayaḥ ayānayaḥ śīrṣasthānam Saralā).
