Avyutpattipakṣa (अव्युत्पत्तिपक्ष).—The view held generally by grammarians that all words are not necessarily susceptible to analysis or derivation, an alternative view opposed to the view of the etymologists or Nairuktas that every word is derivable; cf. पाणिनेस्त्वव्युत्पत्ति-पक्ष एवेति शब्देन्दुशेखरे निरूपितम् (pāṇinestvavyutpatti-pakṣa eveti śabdenduśekhare nirūpitam) Pari. Śekh. Pari. 22; वाचक उपादानः स्वरूप-वानिति अव्युत्पत्तिपक्षे (vācaka upādānaḥ svarūpa-vāniti avyutpattipakṣe) Vyāḍi's Saṃgraha.
