Avalamb (अवलम्ब्).—1 A.

1) (a) To hang, slip or glide down, hang down, be suspended; कनकशृङ्खलावलम्बिनी (kanakaśṛṅkhalāvalambinī) Mu.2 suspended by a golden chain; स्तनवदवलम्बते यः कण्ठेऽ- जानां मणिः स विज्ञेयः (stanavadavalambate yaḥ kaṇṭhe'- jānāṃ maṇiḥ sa vijñeyaḥ) Bṛ.S.65.3; शाखायां मृतकमवलम्बितमास्ते (śākhāyāṃ mṛtakamavalambitamāste) Vet. (b) To rest, recline, sink down, remain; यस्य वचनात्तत्रावलम्बिताः (yasya vacanāttatrāvalambitāḥ) H.1.

6) To be slow or tardy, be late. -Caus.
