Avakalpayate (अवकल्पयते) or Avakalpayati.—(= Pali okappati, °peti), has confidence in, puts faith in, synonym of śrad-dhā, as also in Pali, with gen. of person, acc. of thing: Saddharmapuṇḍarīka 44.3 śradda- dhādhvaṃ me…pattīyatāvakalpayata; 315.1 avakal- payadhvaṃ me…abhiśraddadhadhvaṃ tathāgatasya; Lalitavistara 88.8 (ṛddhiprātihāryam api…) nāvakalpayiṣyanti; Gaṇḍavyūha 171.2 °yantaṃ, pres. pple., perhaps putting trust in, relying on, object bodhisattvaparivārasaṃpatpariśuddhim.
