Avagamya (अवगम्य) refers to “that which is intelligible”, according to the Amanaska Yoga treatise dealing with meditation, absorption, yogic powers and liberation.—Accordingly, as Īśvara says to Vāmadeva: “[...] The knower of yoga whose inhalation and exhalation have disappeared, whose grasping of [sense] objects has ceased, and who is motionless and free from [any] undertaking, attains bliss. [This] extraordinary absorption by which all volition has been cut off and in which all movement has ceased, is intelligible [only] to oneself (sva-avagamya) and is beyond the scope of words. [...]”.
