1) (a) To bathe oneself in, plunge into, dive into; with acc. or loc.; तमोऽपहन्त्रीं तमसां वगाह्य (tamo'pahantrīṃ tamasāṃ vagāhya) R.14.76; अन्यमवकाशमवगाहिष्ये (anyamavakāśamavagāhiṣye) V.4; स्वप्नेऽवगाहतेत्यर्थं जलम् (svapne'vagāhatetyarthaṃ jalam) Y.1.272; Bhaṭṭikāvya 6.29,16.38. (b) To go deep into, be absorbed into (fig.); अमात्यराक्षसेनाप्यनवगाहितमार्यचाणक्यस्य चरितमवगाहितुमिच्छसि (amātyarākṣasenāpyanavagāhitamāryacāṇakyasya caritamavagāhitumicchasi) Mu.6.
