Source: DDSA: The Molesworth Marathi and English Dictionaryaṭapaṇēṃ (अटपणें).—v c To gather together, in, up; to draw in or wind up; to contract into narrower compass, lit. fig. 2 To gather up as in order to put by (books, papers, tools). 3 To take up; to occupy or take possession; to take in hand. Ex. bāpācī sampatti vaḍīla bhāvānēṃ aṭapalī dhākaṭyānēṃ rōjagāra aṭapalā. 4 To do or perform smartly, to despatch. Ex. snānasandhyā aṭapūna paḍhāyāsa yē; caughānnī cāra kāmēṃ aṭapalīṃ tara varacēvara hōīla. 5 To come up with, to overtake; to gain, make, reach, arrive at. Ex. tūṃ puḍhēṃ gēlāsa tarīṃ mī dhāvata yēūna tulā aṭa- pīna; mīṃ sandhyākāḷīṃ puṇēṃ aṭapalēṃ. 6 To manage, control, govern, restrain: also to accomplish, achieve, do. Ex. kārabhāra-rājya-ghōḍā-mūla-a0 7 To consume, finish, despatch, dispose of (eatables, materials, articles): also, freely, to gather up and dispose of, i.e. to make an end of by slaying or killing. In both these divisions of the sense the ordinary application is in the passive voice, and the construction elliptically (i.e. gēlā-lī-lēṃ subauditum) passive. Ex. bhāṇḍyāntalā gūḷa aṭapalā; laḍhāīmadhyēṃ pāñca hajāra phauja aṭapalī; tō gṛhastha paṭa- kīnēṃ halōhāla aṭapalā.
