Āskand (आस्कन्द्).—1 P.

1) To invade, attack; कथमिदानीमुन्मादोपरागो माधवेन्दुमास्कन्दति (kathamidānīmunmādoparāgo mādhavendumāskandati) Mālatīmādhava (Bombay) 9; आस्कन्दल्लक्ष्मणं बाणैः (āskandallakṣmaṇaṃ bāṇaiḥ) Bhaṭṭikāvya 17.82.

2) To step over, tread; चयमास्कन्दति भस्मनां जनः (cayamāskandati bhasmanāṃ janaḥ) Kirātārjunīya 2.2.

3) To depend or hang on (as the Vedāṅgas on the Vedas).

4) To jump, leap.
