Ārohin (आरोहिन्, “ascending”) refers to one of the four varṇas (order), according to the Nāṭyaśāstra chapter 29. These four varṇas define the production (i.e., order or scale) of notes (svara) and are used to make up the thirty-three alaṃkāras (embellishments) of a song.
