Source: archive.org: Shiva Purana - English TranslationArkanetra (अर्कनेत्र) refers to “one having the sun as an eye”, according to the Śivapurāṇa 2.5.16 (“The battle of the gods”).—Accordingly, as Brahmā and the Gods eulogized Viṣṇu: “[...] O thunderbolt for the destruction of misery etc. of the gods harassed by the Asuras. Obeisance to you lying on the Serpent-bed. Obeisance to the one who has sun (arkanetra) and the moon for his eyes [arkacandranetrāya te namaḥ]. O lord of Lakṣmī, O ocean of mercy, save us who have sought refuge in you. All the gods have been driven out of heaven by Jalandhara. [...]”.
