Source: DDSA: The Molesworth Marathi and English Dictionaryardhēla (अर्धेल).—f (ardha Half.) A half-share or concern in an agricultural or commercial engagement; esp. the half-share, whether of the lessor or lessée, in the produce of a field; or of the monied or working member, in the profits of a mercantile scheme. 2 The practice of two persons' thus joining themselves. 3 A tenure of land wherein the cultivator is to pay half the produce, net or gross. 4 The state of being reduced to half (of money, goods &c.) Ex. hyā vyāpārāmadhyēṃ miḷakata vhāvī tī tara nāhīñca āṇi paikyācī a0 jhālī; khaṇḍībhara gūḷa vāṛyānta ghātalā āṇi tyācī a0 jhālī. Also a moiety or half. Used still with reference to loss, destruction, consumption &c. Ex. dhānya vāḷata ghātalēṃ tyācī a0 gēlī.
