Apsavya (अप्सव्य):—m. f. n.

(-vyaḥ-vyā-vyam) 1) Conversant with water.

2) Fit or appropriate for water.

3) Being in the water. [The two first meanings are given according to the explanation of Kaiyyaṭa, the last according to that of the Prauḍhaman., on the word in Vārtt. 6. to Pāṇ. Vi. 3. 1.—mentioned also in the Vārtt. of the Kāśikā to Pāṇ. Vi. 3. 18.—and by Nagojibh. on I. 1. 7., viz. Kaiyyaṭa: apsavyamiti . apsu sādhuḥ . tatrasādhuriti yat (comp. Pāṇ. Iv. 4. 98., where sādhu has the two meanings ‘conversant with’ or ‘appropriate for’); Prauḍh.: apsavya iti . digādibhyo yatPāṇ. Iv. 3. 54.] E. apsu (loc. plur. of ap), taddh. aff. yat.
