Anurakṣā (अनुरक्षा).—(= Pali anurakkhā), protection, guarding, keeping; sparing: guṇānu° Jātakamālā 189.2, preserving virtue; Śikṣāsamuccaya 124.17; sarvasattvānu° 127.7; mama cittānurakṣayā Divyāvadāna 82.22, 26, by way of sparing my thoughts = so as not to hurt my feelings; similarly, tāsām anurakṣayā Mūla-Sarvāstivāda-Vinaya ii.144.10.
