1. One who is near; சமீபஸ்தன். [samipasthan.] (தணிகைப்புராணம் நந்தி. [thanigaippuranam nanthi.] 40.)
2. Devotee, as near to God; தொண்டன். அவ்வப் புவனபதிகளுக்கு அணுக்கராய் வைகி [thondan. avvap puvanapathigalukku anukkaray vaigi] (சிவஞானபோத பாஷ்யம் [sivagnanapotha pashyam] 8, 1, 173).
3. One who is intimate; அந்தரங்கமானவன். [antharangamanavan.] (நாலாயிர திவ்யப்பிரபந்தம் பெரிய.ாழ். [nalayira thivyappirapandam periyazh.] 5, 4, 11.)
