Source: Wisdom Library: Maha Prajnaparamita SastraAntadvaya (अन्तद्वय) refers to the “twofold extremes”, according to the 2nd century Mahāprajñāpāramitāśāstra chapter 1.—Accordingly: There are people who could be saved, but who sometimes fall into the two extremes (antadvaya), whether, out of ignorance, they seek only bodily pleasures, or whether, by the path of activity, they give themselves up to asceticism. From the absolute point of view, these people lose the right path of nirvāṇa. In order to extirpate these twofold extremes (antadvaya) and introduce people into the middle path, the Buddha preaches the Mahāprajñāpāramitā. [...]

Mahayana (महायान, mahāyāna) is a major branch of Buddhism focusing on the path of a Bodhisattva (spiritual aspirants/ enlightened beings). Extant literature is vast and primarely composed in the Sanskrit language. There are many sūtras of which some of the earliest are the various Prajñāpāramitā sūtras.
