Amṛtatejas (अमृततेजस्) is the name of a Vidyādhara king from Vajrakūṭa, according to the Kathāsaritsāgara, chapter 65. Accordingly, as Hiraṇyākṣa said to a female ascetic: “... know that I was a king of the Vidyādharas named Amṛtatejas in a city named Vajrakūṭa. And long ago I was cursed by a hermit, angry because I had treated him with neglect, and I was doomed to live in the world of mortals until touched by your hand”.

The Kathāsaritsāgara (‘ocean of streams of story’), mentioning Amṛtatejas, is a famous Sanskrit epic story revolving around prince Naravāhanadatta and his quest to become the emperor of the vidyādharas (celestial beings). The work is said to have been an adaptation of Guṇāḍhya’s Bṛhatkathā consisting of 100,000 verses, which in turn is part of a larger work containing 700,000 verses.
