The verses ascribed to him in the Apadana are, in the Theragatha Commentary, attributed to two monks, Isidatta (ThagA.i.238) and Gotama (Ibid., i.256) (v.l. Amodaphaliya).
Theravāda is a major branch of Buddhism having the the Pali canon (tipitaka) as their canonical literature, which includes the vinaya-pitaka (monastic rules), the sutta-pitaka (Buddhist sermons) and the abhidhamma-pitaka (philosophy and psychology).
