Source: SOAS Research Online: Prekṣā meditation: History and MethodsAmolakarṣi (1877–1936 A.D.) is the name of an author of Jain texts dealing with meditation.—There are a number of other writers, who produced some work on Jaina meditation, e.g. Amolakarṣi and Ātmārāma (1882–1962) developed meditative practices that influenced Śivamuni’s ātma-dhyāna.
Jainism is an Indian religion of Dharma whose doctrine revolves around harmlessness (ahimsa) towards every living being. The two major branches (Digambara and Svetambara) of Jainism stimulate self-control (or, shramana, ‘self-reliance’) and spiritual development through a path of peace for the soul to progess to the ultimate goal.
