1) Aṃdhera (अंधेर) [Also spelled andher]:—(nm) outrage; wrong; anarchy, complete lawlessness or mismanagement; ~[khātā]/[gardī] pretty kettle of fish, anarchical state of affairs, complete lawlessness or mismanagement; —[nagarī] a maladministered and lawless state or town etc.; •[caupaṭa rājā] a confused ruler, a chaotic state.

2) Aṃdherā (अंधेरा):—(nm and a) darkness; dark; —[guppa]/[ghuppa] pitch dark; black out; —[pākha] the dark half of the month; —[ujālā] prosperity and adversity;—[gaharāye to saverā ho] the darkest hour is that before the dawn; —[chā jānā] darkness to be thickened, to be enveloped in darkness; to be overwhelmed by gloom (due to some terrible emotional shock etc.); [aṃdhere ghara kā ujālā] an only son; a very handsome child; [aṃdhere muṃha] at the first dawn of the day; [aṃdhere meṃ chalāṃga lagānā] to leap into the dark; [aṃdhere meṃ ṭaṭolanā] to grope in the dark; [aṃdhere meṃ tīra māranā] to strike in the dark, to strike without taking an aim; [aṃdhere meṃ rakhanā] to keep in dark.
