Amataparārthatā (अमतपरार्थता).—'an unaccepted second sense', one of the faults of a word (śabdadoṣa); अमतः प्रकृतविरुद्धः परार्थो यत्र (amataḥ prakṛtaviruddhaḥ parārtho yatra); e. g. in राममन्मथशरेण ताडिता (rāmamanmathaśareṇa tāḍitā) &c. (R.11.2) the second sense suggestive of शृङ्गाररस (śṛṅgārarasa) is opposed to the proper rasa of the passage which is either वीर (vīra) or बीभत्स (bībhatsa); K. P.7.
