Source: Shodhganga: Temples of Salem region Up to 1336 ADAlpanāsi (अल्पनासि).—Nāsis carved for decoration on the miniature pavilions and other architectural parts are called by the name alpanāsis. These are small in size but possess all the features of a regular nāsi. Sometimes the number of alpanāsis found on the śikhara above the garbhagṛha also helps to determine the type of the vimāna. It is also known as Kṣudranāsi.
Vastushastra (वास्तुशास्त्र, vāstuśāstra) refers to the ancient Indian science (shastra) of architecture (vastu), dealing with topics such architecture, sculpture, town-building, fort building and various other constructions. Vastu also deals with the philosophy of the architectural relation with the cosmic universe.
