aḷapaṇēṃ (अळपणें).—v c To bind around; to bind by wrapping or winding around. Note. This verb has for its object, not the thing rolled or wound, but the thing bound; and it always implies forceful or tight binding; and it generally is used in conjunction with bāndhaṇēṃ, as aḷapūna bāndhaṇēṃ. aḷapaṇēṃ is not, as bāndhaṇēṃ, To tie, or to fasten, or to draw or close up, but to bind; aḷapaṇēṃ is specific, bāndhaṇēṃ is generic.
