Ayurveda (science of life)
Āhārasa (आहारस, “food essence”).—After food is digested, the āhā-rasa (essence of food) is absorbed and carried into the circulation of blood. This āhā-rasa replenishes the Rasa-dhātu already circulatin with blood. The former is known as ‘poṣaka-rasa’ and the latter as ‘poṣya-(sthāyi-)rasa’. This is further acted upon by its respective agni leading to its conversion into the successive dhātu, e.g. blood (rakta).

Āyurveda (आयुर्वेद, ayurveda) is a branch of Indian science dealing with medicine, herbalism, taxology, anatomy, surgery, alchemy and related topics. Traditional practice of Āyurveda in ancient India dates back to at least the first millenium BC. Literature is commonly written in Sanskrit using various poetic metres.
