The Epoch of the Aguptayika era (1034 BCE) A set of copper plates were found in 1926 in Belgaum district of Karnataka. The Palaeography of the plates clearly indicates that the epoch of the Aguptayika kings must have commenced at least 600 years before the epoch of the Gupta era. Therefore, the epoch of Aguptayika Kings must have commenced at an earlier date than the epoch of the Gupta era (335 BCE).
