Source: Pali Kanon: Pali Proper NamesA native of Burma and author of the Lokuppattipakarana, written at Pagan in the thirteenth century (Gv.64, 67). The Pitakatthamain calls the work Lokuppattipakasani (Bode, 16, n.3).
The Sasanavamsa (74) speaks of three monks by the name of Aggapandita: Maha Aggapandita (evidently our author), Dutiya Aggapandita (his saddhiviharika), and Tatiya Aggapandlita (his nephew), all of Arimaddanapura and all famed for their learning.
Theravāda is a major branch of Buddhism having the the Pali canon (tipitaka) as their canonical literature, which includes the vinaya-pitaka (monastic rules), the sutta-pitaka (Buddhist sermons) and the abhidhamma-pitaka (philosophy and psychology).
