Source: Brill: Śaivism and the Tantric Traditions (philosophy)Adhodiś (अधोदिश्) refers to the “direction of below”, according to the Viṃśikāvṛtti 7.—Accordingly, “For if an atom has one part in the direction of the east, [and others in the directions of the south, west, north, above] and below (adhodiś-bhāga), given that [the atom] is differentiated into [various] parts according to the directions, how could the atom be one [whereas it] consists of these [different parts]?”.
Shaiva (शैव, śaiva) or Shaivism (śaivism) represents a tradition of Hinduism worshiping Shiva as the supreme being. Closely related to Shaktism, Shaiva literature includes a range of scriptures, including Tantras, while the root of this tradition may be traced back to the ancient Vedas.
