Adadryañc (अदद्र्यञ्च्):—[=adadry-añc] aṅ, īcī, ak ([from] adas + añc), inclining or going to that, [cf. Lexicographers, esp. such as amarasiṃha, halāyudha, hemacandra, etc.]

Adadryañc (अदद्र्यञ्च्):—[tatpurusha compound] m. f. n.

(-dryaṅ-drīcī-dryak) Going to that. (This word is probably one of a mere grammatical coinage, to illustrate a rule concerning the pronom. theme adas. According to some it would have the same meaning as adamuyañc, amudryañc and amumuyañc to which others add adamudryañc, amumūyañc, adamūyañc qq. vv., but it might also be that adadryañc (as well as adamuyañc, adamudryañc, adamūyañc) is formed to show that its first part represents not the whole theme, but merely the neuter of adas, while the first part of amudryañc, amumuyañc and amumūyañc refer to its masc. and femin. For the declension of this word, see añc Ii. E. adas and añc (Ii. 1.), with adri instead of the final as of adas.

Sanskrit, also spelled संस्कृतम् (saṃskṛtam), is an ancient language of India commonly seen as the grandmother of the Indo-European language family (even English!). Closely allied with Prakrit and Pali, Sanskrit is more exhaustive in both grammar and terms and has the most extensive collection of literature in the world, greatly surpassing its sister-languages Greek and Latin.
