Abhyupapatti (अभ्युपपत्ति).—f.

1) Approaching to assist, taking pity or compassion on, favouring; a fovour, kindness; अभ्यु- पपत्त्या अस्या जीवितमवलम्बस्व (abhyu- papattyā asyā jīvitamavalambasva) Ś.3; अनयाभ्युपपत्त्या (anayābhyupapattyā) Ś.4; मम° निमित्तम् (mama° nimittam) Mṛcchakaṭika 1.

2) Consolation.

3) Protection, defence; ब्राह्मणाभ्युपपत्तौ च शपथे नास्ति पातकम् (brāhmaṇābhyupapattau ca śapathe nāsti pātakam) Manusmṛti 8.112,349;1.62; आर्त° (ārta°) Daśakumāracarita 39.

4) An agreement, assent, promise.
