Abhyupapad (अभ्युपपद्).—4 A.

1) To deliver (from distress), protect; to console, comfort, take compassion or pity on, pity, favour; स सुहृद्यो विपन्नार्थं दीनमभ्युपपद्यते (sa suhṛdyo vipannārthaṃ dīnamabhyupapadyate) Rām.6.63. 27; रतिमभ्युपपत्तुमातुरां मधुरात्मानमदर्शयत्पुरः (ratimabhyupapattumāturāṃ madhurātmānamadarśayatpuraḥ) Kumārasambhava 4.25; (kadā) तपः कृशामभ्युपपत्स्यते सखीं वृषेव सीतां तदवग्रहक्षताम् (tapaḥ kṛśāmabhyupapatsyate sakhīṃ vṛṣeva sītāṃ tadavagrahakṣatām) 5.61; Uttararāmacarita 2; 3.7; Mālatīmādhava (Bombay) 4.
