Abhyarhitatva (अभ्यर्हितत्व):—n.

(-tvam) 1) The being much or more respected or honoured; the being superior or preferable; e. g. Kaiyy. on Patanj. to the first Vārtt. quoted s. v. abhyarhita 1.: śraddhāmedhe iti . satyāṃ śraddhāyāmarthakriyākāriṇī medheti śraddhāyā abhyarhitatvam ‘…therefore Śraddhā is more respected (i. e. occupies a higher rank than Medhā)’; or Jaiminīyanyāy.: tathāpi parapratyakṣātsvapratyakṣasyābhyarhitatvena sparśa evātrānuṣṭheyo na sarvaveṣṭanam ‘because that which is before one’s own eyes is preferable to (i. e. more to be relied upon than) that which is before other’s eyes’, &c.; or Jayam. (on the position of saumitri in the compound saumitrisītā Bhaṭṭik. 3. 9.): sahacaratvenābhyarhitatvātpūrvanipātaḥ; or (on that of purohita in purohitāmātya Bhaṭṭik. 3. 29.): purohitasyābhyarhitatvātpūrvanipātaḥ.
