Abhyamitrīṇa (अभ्यमित्रीण).—[abhyamitra -kha, cha, or yat; amitrānabhimukhaṃ suṣṭhu gacchatītyarthaḥ abhyamitrāccha ca P.V.2.17.] A warrior who valiantly encounters his enemy; उद्योगमभ्यमित्रीणो यथेष्टं त्वं च संतनु (udyogamabhyamitrīṇo yatheṣṭaṃ tvaṃ ca saṃtanu) Bhaṭṭikāvya 5.47; मारीचोऽनुनयंस्त्रा- सादभ्यमित्र्यो भवामि ते (mārīco'nunayaṃstrā- sādabhyamitryo bhavāmi te) 46; Daśakumāracarita 171.

Abhyamitrīṇa (अभ्यमित्रीण).—m.

(-naḥ) A soldier who faces the enemy valiantly. E. abhi before, or against, amitra an enemy, and kha affix; the affix being cha or yat, the word is also written abhyamitrīya or abhyamitrya.

([apparently derivatives [from] abhy-amitram (See below sub voce), but probably originally derived from the root, which is also indicated by the parallel form abhy-amin (See below)]) advancing against or attacking (the enemy), [Pāṇini 5-2, 17.]

(-ṇaḥ) A soldier who attacks the enemy valiantly; (Amarak.: yo gacchatyalaṃ vidviṣataḥ prati; Bharatam. = alamatyarthaṃ śatrūnprati yo yāti; Rāmanātha: śatrorabhimukhaṃ samarthaḥ sanyo yāti &c. &c.; Hem.: = abhyari vrajan, but the former more in conformity with Pāṇ. V. 2. 15. and 17.); e. g. Bhaṭṭik.: harāmi rāmasaumitrī mṛgo bhūtvā mṛgadyuvau . udyogamabhyamitrīṇo yatheṣṭaṃ tvaṃ ca saṃtanu. Comp. the two following words. E. abhyamitra, taddh. aff. kha.
