Abhiyuj (अभियुज्).—7 A.

1) To apply oneself to, exert oneself, make oneself ready for, prepare, set about, strive or endeavour (used in passive also in this sense); तद्यदि न सहते ततः स्वयमभियुज्यस्व । एते स्वकर्मण्यभियुज्यामहे (tadyadi na sahate tataḥ svayamabhiyujyasva | ete svakarmaṇyabhiyujyāmahe) | Mu.3; Daśakumāracarita 55; K.3; व्यसनमभियुञ्जानस्य (vyasanamabhiyuñjānasya) Mu.4 trying to find out a weak point.

2) To attack, assail; भवन्तमभियोक्तु- मुद्युङ्क्ते (bhavantamabhiyoktu- mudyuṅkte) Daśakumāracarita 3; वृषलमभियोक्तुमुद्यतः (vṛṣalamabhiyoktumudyataḥ) Mu.1; क इदानीमभियोक्ष्यते (ka idānīmabhiyokṣyate) Uttararāmacarita 3.

Abhiyuj (अभियुज्).—A. appoint to, charge with ([locative]); A. ([Middle]) prepare or get ready for ([accusative] or infin.); [Middle] (A.) yoke, harness, put to; attack, march against; [Passive] be sued for or be accused of ([accusative]). Abhiyuj (अभियुज्):—[tatpurusha compound] m. f.

(-k-k) (ved.) Attacking, assailing, an enemy, (when used absolutely in the femin., with the ellipsis of prajā or senā); e. g. (masc.) Ṛgv.: uta smāsya tanyatoriva dyorṛghāyato abhiyujo bhayante; (Sāyaṇa: abhiyujobhiyoktāro’surāḥ); or pravṛṇvanto abhiyujaḥ &c. (Sāyaṇa: abhiyujobhiyojayitāraḥ); (fem.)
