Abhiṣeṇi (अभिषेणि):—denom. parasm.

(-ṇayati; the mūrdhanya remains unchanged also after the augment; e. g. abhyaṣeṇayat, and if reduplication takes place; e. g. desider. abhiṣiṣeṇayiṣati, on which form Kaiyyaṭa to Pāṇ. Viii. 3. 64. observes: avyutpannaḥ senāśabdaḥ . athavā sahenena senā . sahasya saḥ saṃjñāyāmiti—Vi. 3. 78.—sādeśaḥ . yadā tu kṛvṛjṝṣītiUṇṇādis. 3. 10.—sinoternapratyaye senāśabdo vyutpādyate tadāstyeva ṣopadeśatvam; comp. also abhiṣiṣeṇayiṣu) . To march with an army for the purpose of attacking an enemy; e. g. Hitopad.: apīḍayanbalaṃ śatrūñjigīṣurabhiṣeṇayet . sukhasādhyaṃ dviṣāṃ senyaṃ dīrghaprayāṇapīḍitam.
