Source: Wisdom Library: Maha Prajnaparamita SastraAbhimānabahula (अभिमानबहुल) refers to “subtle distraction that abounds in pride” and represents one of the three kinds of sūkṣmavikṣepa (subtle distraction), according to the 2nd century Mahāprajñāpāramitāśāstra (chapter XXVIII). Accordingly, “what is abounding in pride (abhimāna-bahula)? Having obtained the concentration, the ascetic tells himself that he has attained a very difficult thing and praises himself”.
Mahayana (महायान, mahāyāna) is a major branch of Buddhism focusing on the path of a Bodhisattva (spiritual aspirants/ enlightened beings). Extant literature is vast and primarely composed in the Sanskrit language. There are many sūtras of which some of the earliest are the various Prajñāpāramitā sūtras.
