(-vaḥ) 1. Calling, invoking, invocation. Compare abhihūti. E. hve with abhi, kṛt aff. ap and sampras. of ve. (Pāṇini.) Ii. Making an oblation of clarified butter into fire, sacrificing; e. g. Mānava-Kalpa-Sūtra: prāgabhihavādadhvaryubrahmahotrudgātrāgnīdhrā pañcartvijo mantraiḥ saumikairvṛṇīte . brahmāṇaṃ tu darśapaurṇamāsikena; Kumārila's Bhāṣya: …prāgabhihavāt . evaṃ tarhi prāggrahaṇādupasamādhāya paryukṣya paristīryājyādi saṃskṛtyājyāhuteḥ prāgṛtvigvaraṇaṃ niyamārthaṃ pravedhase . abhiśabdādagnimabhi juhotītyarthebhihomenāgnimupaskuruta iti yāvat &c.
