1) Goging tow-ards heaven, tending heavenward; e. g. the Maruts (Sāyaṇa: = dyulokamabhigatāḥ or = abhigatā dyauryaiste).
2) Radiant, splendid, shining around; e. g. the Viśvadevas, the Maruts, sacrificers, a horse &c. (Sāyaṇa: = abhigatadīptayaḥ or = abhigatā dyaurdīptiryeṣām or = abhito dīpyamānāḥ). 2. m.
(-dyuḥ) (ved.) A half month; in the Ṛgv. verse: pra vo vājā abhidyavo haviṣmanto ghṛtācyā . devāñjigāti sumnayuḥ, where Sāyaṇa explains, according to the gloss of the Taittirīyabr. (pra vo vājā ityanvāha māsā vai vājā ardhamāsā abhidyavaḥ &c.), abhidyavaḥ = abhito dyavo divasā yeṣu; and similarly in his comm. on Śatap. I. 4. 1. 8. (E. I. H. Mss. 657. 1509): vastoḥ . dyuḥ . (bhānuḥ is omitted) . vāsaramityaharnāmasu pāṭhāt . dyuśabdo dinavacanaḥ . dyūnabhi divasānabhi gatā iti vyutptattyā abhidyava ityanenārdhamāsā ucyante. E. abhi and dyu.

Sanskrit, also spelled संस्कृतम् (saṃskṛtam), is an ancient language of India commonly seen as the grandmother of the Indo-European language family (even English!). Closely allied with Prakrit and Pali, Sanskrit is more exhaustive in both grammar and terms and has the most extensive collection of literature in the world, greatly surpassing its sister-languages Greek and Latin.
