Aananta Vrata.—The Hindu festival going by the name Ananta Vratha is observed on the fourteenth day of the bright fortnight in the month of Badrapada called in Tamil Avani, which corresponds to the English month August-September. The observance of this Vratha is believed to secure for the observer immunity from all sorrows. Some men go to the extent of saying that even a lost situation may be regained by a faithful observance of this Vratha.
