Udanavarga [sanskrit]

The Udanavarga is a collection of Sanskrit verses representing aphorisms attributed to the Buddha and his disciples. The Udanavarga resembles the Pali Dhammapada and Udana, yet it belong the ancient tradition of early Buddhism. Alternative titles: Udānavarga (उदानवर्ग).

ग्रामे अरण्ये सुखदुह्खस्पृष्टो नैवात्मनो न परतो दधाति ।
स्पर्शाः स्पृशन्ति ह्य् उपधिं प्रतीत्य निरौपधिं किं स्पर्शाः स्पृशेयुः ॥ ५१ ॥

grāme araṇye sukhaduhkhaspṛṣṭo naivātmano na parato dadhāti |
sparśāḥ spṛśanti hy upadhiṃ pratītya niraupadhiṃ kiṃ sparśāḥ spṛśeyuḥ || 51 ||
