The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

ततो रागाद्भयं दृष्ट्वा वैराग्याच्च परं शिवम् ।
निगृह्णन्निन्द्रियग्रामं यतते मनसः श्रमे ॥ ४८ ॥

tato rāgādbhayaṃ dṛṣṭvā vairāgyācca paraṃ śivam |
nigṛhṇannindriyagrāmaṃ yatate manasaḥ śrame || 48 ||

'Then having seen how fear arises from passion and the highest happiness from the absence of passion, he strives, by restraining all the senses, to attain to tranquillity of mind.
