The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 11.67

इहापि तावत्पुरुषस्य तिष्ठतः प्रवर्तते यत्परहिंसया सुखम् ।
तदप्यनिष्टं सघृणस्य धीमतो भवान्तरे किं वत यन्न दृश्यते ॥ ६७ ॥

ihāpi tāvatpuruṣasya tiṣṭhataḥ pravartate yatparahiṃsayā sukham |
tadapyaniṣṭaṃ saghṛṇasya dhīmato bhavāntare kiṃ vata yanna dṛśyate || 67 ||

'Even that happiness which comes to a man, while he stays in this world, through the injury of another, is hateful to the wise compassionate heart; how much more if it be something beyond our sight in another life?
