The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 11.4

ये चार्थकृच्छ्रेषु भवन्ति लोके समानकार्याः सुहृदां मनुष्याः ।
मित्राणि तानीति परैमि बुद्ध्या स्वस्थस्य वृद्धिष्विह को हि न स्यात् ॥ ४ ॥

ye cārthakṛcchreṣu bhavanti loke samānakāryāḥ suhṛdāṃ manuṣyāḥ |
mitrāṇi tānīti paraimi buddhyā svasthasya vṛddhiṣviha ko hi na syāt || 4 ||

'But those men who act unchangingly towards their friends in reverses of fortune, I esteem in my heart as true friends; who is not the friend of the prosperous man in his times of abundance?
