The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 10.38

तस्मादधीरं चपलप्रमादि नवं वयस्तावदिदं व्यपैतु ।
कामस्य पूर्वं हि वयः शरव्यं न शक्यते रक्षितुमिन्द्रियेभ्यः ॥ ३८ ॥

tasmādadhīraṃ capalapramādi navaṃ vayastāvadidaṃ vyapaitu |
kāmasya pūrvaṃ hi vayaḥ śaravyaṃ na śakyate rakṣitumindriyebhyaḥ || 38 ||

'Let therefore this fickle time of youth first pass by, reckless and giddy,—our early years are the mark for pleasure, they cannot be kept from the power of the senses.
