The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 10.29

यो ह्यर्थधर्मौ परिपीड्य कामः स्याद्धर्मकाम्ये परिभूय चार्थः ।
कामार्थयोश्चोपरमेण धर्मस्त्याज्यः स कृत्स्नो यदि काङ्क्षितार्थः ॥ २९ ॥

yo hyarthadharmau paripīḍya kāmaḥ syāddharmakāmye paribhūya cārthaḥ |
kāmārthayoścoparameṇa dharmastyājyaḥ sa kṛtsno yadi kāṅkṣitārthaḥ || 29 ||

'That which is pleasure when it has overpowered wealth and merit, is wealth when it has conquered merit and pleasure; so too it is merit, when pleasure and wealth fall into abeyance; but all would have to be alike abandoned, if thy desired end were obtained.
