The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 9.23

इत्यब्रवीद्भूमिपतिर्भवन्तं वाक्येन वाष्पग्रथिताक्षरेण ।
श्रुत्वा भवानर्हति तत्प्रियार्थं स्नेहेन तत्स्नेहमनुप्रयातुम् ॥ २३ ॥

ityabravīdbhūmipatirbhavantaṃ vākyena vāṣpagrathitākṣareṇa |
śrutvā bhavānarhati tatpriyārthaṃ snehena tatsnehamanuprayātum || 23 ||

'Thus did the king say to thee in a speech whose words were stopped by tears,—surely having heard it, for the sake of what is so dear to him, thou wilt with all affection follow his affection.
