The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 8.12

अथोचुरद्यैव विशाम तद्वनं गतः स यत्र द्विपराजविक्रमः ।
जिजीविषा नास्ति हि तेन नो विना यथेन्द्रियाणां विगमे शरीरिणाम् ॥ १२ ॥

athocuradyaiva viśāma tadvanaṃ gataḥ sa yatra dviparājavikramaḥ |
jijīviṣā nāsti hi tena no vinā yathendriyāṇāṃ vigame śarīriṇām || 12 ||

Then they said, 'Let us go this very day into that forest, whither he is gone, whose gait is like the king of elephants; without him we have no wish to live, like the senses when the souls depart.
